We made it!!

To all concerned, we made it to Memphis unharmed, a tad bit stressed, but fine, nothing a double of Crown can't fix. The trip was an eventful one, there is nothing like hearing about a winter weather warning for the destination you are headed for. The trip got a little hairy from time to time, but it all worked out. Something weird I noticed, since we are always on the road, yesterday while we were pulling out of our place I noticed that sometime on this trip that our truck's odometer was going to read something funny. (Look at the photo) I guess when you spend sooooo much time on the road as we do you notice these things. I took the photo about 50 miles from Memphis and giggled quite loudly, and told Stephenie, "I know it's weird, but that's just the way I am." Her reply,"I know, but I love you anyway." Aaawwww, is that sweet or just accepting the situation. It's sweet!!! Since the little kids have been confined for about 24 hours, they decided to cut loose after we got back from an AWESOME sushi dinner. This place called OSAKA here in Memphis is on of the best sushi bars we have been to, Se Manifique!! The way these two guys, Benny and Joon play you would think that one of them, Benny, will be bleeding from the jugular soon. Very scary.

Anyway, just wanted to catch you up on where we were and how we are doing. Another weekend , another roping. When you think about it, it's actually, another weekend, another adventure. Cool saying for a T-shirt, someone get on it and get back to me.

Heard from Brad the other day and everything is good in poopville. Their daughter is the light of their lives, proud of you bro!!
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and we will talk to you from NSB,(New Smyrna Beach) Florida, we can't wait to get there!!
Good times,Good times!!

The Bud Kings

Happy Valentine's Day, a day early. Just thought I would drop a little note and fill you guys in on an interesting and unexpected encounter we had while in JAX a couple weeks ago. The Budweiser Clydesdales were in town staying at the equistrian center we were shooting in. They performed everday we were there. The day we left to head back to Texas, the handlers were giving these GIGANTIC creatures their morning exercises. Steph and I struck up a conversation with the foreman Loren, shot a few photos, and left. The newest member of the Team was a four year old named "Curly." It was his first roadtrip. You truly can't imagine how massive these guys are until you stand next to one. I'm 6'-4" and Curly's shoulder was about 2 inches taller than me!! They are, well were, very mellow animals, especially Curly for being only 4. The photo with the three next to the car, Curly is closest to the car. Mouthy "little" booger. It was a very cool experience. When I was a kid my parents and I would visit family in St. Louis and of course tour Grants Farm, the Clydesdales home. I found out that Budweiser is moving their breeding facility from Colorado Springs Colorado to Colombia Missouri. The majority of their operation is located at Grants farm though.

Anyway, everything is good here, trying to catch up on sleep before we hit the road again. Hey, we have moved up in the high-tec communcation world. We finally bought a laptop with a broadband wireless card so we can keep up with what is going on elsewhere. Oh, and people can get in touch with us via email, yea.

Take care, and I almost forgot, congrats to Brad and Christy Self on their new addition - Sophia McKenzie Self - 8lbs 3oz, Feb 7th, 6:45am.

Stay tuned for upadates from the Benny and Joon Cronicles.

Introducing,.....

I'll skip ahead some, because the natives are restless, they like to stay up late. On the first leg of the most recent trip, we "aquired" two of the cutest puppies ever, minus Tempest of of course. I have no idea what they are, but a friend of ours told us they are Russian Bear dogs, (they Rush in and Bare down on things). That could'nt be more acurate. These guys have turned this house TOTALLY UPSIDE DOWN. Way cool!! They are known as Benny and Joon.

I here some commotion comming from the living room, so stay tuned for more.

Making up for lost blogs

I promised that I would catch you guys up on the goings on here in "big Kempner Texas." The end of '07 was good, quiet and peaceful. Mom came down for a visit, and it was good to see her. We made a day trip to Dallas for her dad, and my grandpa's, 85th birthday. It was good to see everyone. We also made a run to Llano and Fredricksburg to do some sightseeing and to indulge ourselves at the best Bar-B-Que joint in the free world, of course Cooper's. It seems this Christmas was all about family history in the form of slides tranfered to DVD. Perfect gifts for a photographer who really digs his family history. My Nanny also gave us DVD's of slides from the mid 40's to the mid 80's. Cool stuff, especially the threads they wore back in the day. THANKS!!

I will divide everything into individual sections, happy viewing!!

Super Tuesday , for who?.

First let me apologize for being delinquent on updating this thing, but there were the holidays and then roadtrips and I really did'nt have much to say. Since it's Super Tuesday, ( Fat Tuesday as well), coincidence, I think not, just blame the special intrest, I felt it nesscessary to comment on the total BS we call campagning for the Figure Head. I would hope that any politician knows that this country is run by the specail intrest groups!! Campaigning for the white house is looking more and more like a mini-drama out of Hollywood. I hate to say, as a moderate Democrat, there is no one to vote for. I mean who is stupid enough to try and "fix," actually inherit the mockery that WoolyBush has made of this country. Not to sound racist, but Obama, are you kidding??!! If elected, some redneck "Bubba will probably travel to D.C. for a little coon hunting." That's a direct quote from a couple of friends of mine who happen to be persons of color. I think some people who vote in this country are missing the big picture, hanging on to issues that are thirty-something years old, get over it and MOVE ON!!!! When we are on the road we listen to XM RADIO, mostly FOX NEWS, when I here why some people won't listen to a specific candidate because of his religous beliefs, (being Morman), you ask why? They say it's a cult. That's so gay!!!! Look up cult in the dictionary, Webster says, "A system of religious beliefs and ritual." Stick that in your conservative rolling papers and take a BIG DRAG!!! I feel sorry for both parties in this year's Presidential election. There is no one to vote for. Why do the candidates feel the need to trash each other, your in the same FREAKING PARTY DUMBASS!! This is about building yourselves up, "putting your best foot forward" as the saying goes. This year INDEPENDENTS are the only way to go. There are probably some things I left out during my rambling, but I'm almost starting to dislike the media more than the candidates.
Off the soapbox for now. I will catch you guys up to date tomorrow. I have lots to share.
